Introduction

 

• Acrylic fibre is the generic name of manmade fibres derived from acrylic resins (minimum of 85% acrylonitrile.) Acrylonitrile is an important raw material for a range of manmade fibres.

 

History

 

• First U.S. Commercial Acrylic Fibre Production: was in 1950 by the DuPont Company.

• Superior moisture management or wick ability
• Quick drying time (75% faster than cotton)
• Easy care, shape retention
• Excellent light fastness, sun light resistance
• Takes colour easily, bright vibrant colours
